Not every immersive event needs moving parts. Sometimes, stillness speaks volumes : especially when it’s a life-sized pirate shipwreck built just for the vibe.
For one of the boldest creative briefs we’ve received, Impact Production Group (IPG) was tasked with designing and fabricating a realistic pirate ship prop for a high-end corporate celebration. The twist?
This full-scale vessel wasn’t for boarding ; it was a striking, theatrical centerpiece built purely for visual storytelling, ambiance, and photo-worthy impact.
Our client’s vision was clear: deliver a themed pirate shipwreck structure that felt grand, gritty, and photogenic, without functioning as a stage or platform. It had to look like a scene out of a fantasy film; but remain a static, safe, and fully self-supported decor piece.
We designed a shipwreck that:
- Could anchor the theme visually
- Served as an immersive photo backdrop
- Created atmosphere and storytelling for the entire venue
- Enhanced lighting and effects without requiring audience interaction
Our creative process began with deep visual research : historic galleons, Caribbean legends, and cinematic wreck scenes. Then, we moved into custom sketches and 3D models.
Key design features included:
- A jagged, broken hull with layered timber panels
- Cracked masts and rigging made from flame-safe ropes
- Decorative cannons, treasure chests, and skeleton props
While not meant for climbing or entry, the ship delivered major wow factor and endless visual depth from every angle.
Every element was built in-house by IPG’s expert team : from scenic painters and set builders to AV techs and rigging specialists.
Technical highlights:
- Lightweight, modular metal frames for quick assembly
- Marine-style distress paint techniques for hyper-realism
The shipwreck was pre-assembled and tested in our IPG warehouse before being carefully disassembled and transported to the venue.
The build was installed over two days, with our crew ensuring every piece aligned flawlessly on-site. Though not designed for physical use, the ship was integrated with:
- Surrounding lighting and special effects
- Fog machines
- Interactive areas nearby for photo moments
The end result? A breathtaking immersive focal point that transformed the venue into a pirate’s cove : no guest boarding required.
