Some event ideas start with a spark. This one started with a dare.
“Could you build a DJ booth shaped like a skull?”
At Impact Production Group (IPG), we didn’t flinch. We lit up.
Because this wasn’t just another decor piece, it was a chance to build something epic, eerie, and unforgettable. For a pirate-themed private event, the client wanted something that would electrify the crowd. So we turned a bold vision into reality with one of our most talked-about builds: the Skull DJ Booth.
This wasn’t about putting a DJ on stage — it was about putting them inside a story. We wanted to create a stage centerpiece that would feel like part sculpture, part theatre, and 100% immersive.
The skull would need to:
- Command attention in daylight and after dark
- House a fully equipped DJ rig with ventilation, lighting, and access
- Blend into the event theme, while standing on its own as a spectacle
Our design team started with rough sketches, playing with skull shapes that could scale to 2.5+ meters wide without losing proportion. Then we moved into digital modeling.
Using 3D design tools, we shaped a structure with depth, detail, and texture. We combined metal, plywood, and foam elements — striking the right balance between strength, precision, and lightness for safe installation.
- A raised DJ platform fit seamlessly inside the mouth
- LEDs were rigged inside the eyes for reactive lighting red eyes
- All cabling was hidden for an aesthetically pleasing look
The entire structure was tested and assembled in our warehouse before transport.
The Build: Bringing the Skull to Life
